Hi I have a W520 with an NVIDIA Quadro 2000M; Windows 7 64bit. BIOS is updated to latest version.
I installed the new video driver version 9./22.214.171.124.538 (83de48ww.exe) After installing the new driver, the windows desktop manage DWM.EXE crashes when waking from sleep mode forcing me to reboot. The driver also causes intermittent failure of DWM on a cold boot as well. The wake from sleep failure of DWM.exe is consistent every time. I never experienced this problem prior to updating the NVIDIA driver two days ago. I rolled back the driver to: 126.96.36.1997 and the problem stopped. What’s the story here.why is the new driver conflicting with the DWM.exe program??? Please advise?
Here you can download Lenovo ThinkPad W520 Drivers free and easy. Lenovo ThinkPad W520 Drivers Download. NVIDIA Display Driver: Windows XP.
I also have a w520 and 2000M. Could be we have the same issue with 311.00 drivers from Lenovo. I have an issue open with Nvidia and they have one other customer that is getting the errors I get using discrete mode. I also the issue with DWM when using Optimus mode and multiple displays. What mode are you using? Discrete or Optimus? If you open a case with Nvidia reference case 161.
It might help speed things up towards resolving the issue. I also replaced the motherboard in my w520 and still get the same results (I had a case with Lenovo open as well). Wrote: Hi Harris, Colonel O'Neill: I'm a bit confused by the release numbers the two of you are quoting. I had a look at my Device Manager, and it shows that the driver version is 9. That works quite well for me, I am happy with it (I only use discrete graphics, I have it set up that way in the BIOS).
What is the significance of the numbers '314.07' and '311.35' that you refer to? Michael The first 3 digits are the series deginators for ISV certification and the last two are the revision number. If 311.00 works fine for you then continue to use it. There is no revision.00 on the NVIDIA download site for the 311 series.
